Hey, I’m Ryan.

I live in Kansas City with my wife and our three kids. Most days, my life exists somewhere between family, software, church, theology, music, and whatever project I currently have going in the garage.

For more than a decade, I’ve worked as a software engineer. I love building things, solving difficult problems, working alongside good people, and thinking about how technology can genuinely serve human beings rather than simply asking them to move faster.

Teaching

I love Scripture. The longer I follow Jesus, the less interested I am in simply knowing more about the Bible and the more interested I am in what happens when the story of Scripture actually gets inside of us.

Music & Creativity

Music has been part of my life for a long time. I’m a drummer, and I love worship, arranging music, playing with other musicians, and that moment when a group of individual people somehow becomes one thing together.

I also love woodworking and making things with my hands. There is something deeply satisfying to me about taking raw material—a piece of wood, a rhythm, an idea, or even a piece of software—and patiently shaping it into something useful or beautiful.

Technology

I spend a lot of time thinking about what technology makes possible—but increasingly, I also find myself asking what technology is doing to us.

I don’t have all of this figured out. This site isn’t intended to present a finished version of me. It’s simply a place to collect some of what I’m learning, teaching, building, and wondering about as I try to follow Jesus faithfully in the life I’ve actually been given.
